We hiked down the South Kaibob trail to the Bright Angel Campground at the bottom of the Grand Canyon on New Year's Eve, camped for the night, and hiked up the Bright Angel Trail back to the canyon rim on New Year's Day. I didn't take very many pictures because the first day we were hurrying to reach the camp before it turned dark, and the second day we were hurrying to get back in time to catch our flight out of Phoenix.
Almost all of these pictures were taken within the canyon. For pictures taken from the rim of the canyon, see my roadtrip 2000 pictures.

This is me... really!!! (This is what you get when you let a stranger touch your camera.)
Mahalakshmi "Sherpa" Venkataraman. She was a horse. She made it all the way down into the canyon and up out of the canyon with a heavy load on her back, passing most all of the other backpackers we met.
And as is my custom, I will finish off with a sunset picture. Unfortunately, when you are in the Grand Canyon watching the sun set, it is still up pretty high and still very bright and white.
